As simple as can be. As I recall.. 2 bolts in the front.and then on the
later cars.there were a set of tracks that the seat frame slid into.just
slide it forward..

Seats come right out as I recall.but it has been a long time.and I get mixed
up on all the different Elans I have owned.

My '69 S4 had the simple 2 "U" shaped brackets at the front which held
the seat in the transverse channel on the floor pan. Once removed, the
seat can be lifted out. I only remember the seat tracks in my +2, which
I removed complete with the seat, the S4 had only a plate under the rear
tubes for ease of movement.

You have to remove the two front hold downs and you may be able to
slide the seat fully to the rear and lift up but if not, you'll have to
remove the seat rails, from underneath the car. What I did for ease
of future removals was to remove the last 1 1/2" of material from
the 'upper', so to speak, part of the seat rail; the horizontal part,
if you will. This facilitated being able to slide the seat fully
rearward and lift it out without having to remove the seat rails.

Yes.come to think of it.that is what I did as well.I took off the last 1
inch or so of the top of the seat rail. This was especially important for me
as I had a Spyder roll bar which stopped the seats from going back all the
way.

This is a good tip. I found that installing the seats with the rails, following carpet replacement, was kind of a hassel.
