Can anyone tell me how to remove the seats from a 1969 Elan S4 DHC?

As simple as can be. As I recall.. 2 bolts in the front.and then on the
later cars.there were a set of tracks that the seat frame slid into.just
slide it forward..



Seats come right out as I recall.but it has been a long time.and I get mixed
up on all the different Elans I have owned.

My '69 S4 had the simple 2 "U" shaped brackets at the front which held
the seat in the transverse channel on the floor pan. Once removed, the
seat can be lifted out. I only remember the seat tracks in my +2, which
I removed complete with the seat, the S4 had only a plate under the rear
tubes for ease of movement.

Yes.come to think of it.that is what I did as well.I took off the last 1
inch or so of the top of the seat rail. This was especially important for me
as I had a Spyder roll bar which stopped the seats from going back all the
way.

This is a good tip. I found that installing the seats with the rails, following carpet replacement, was kind of a hassel.
