Chrome Front Bumper Trim

PostPost by: archigator » Sat May 07, 2005 9:27 pm

My Sprint is missing the chrome bumper trim piece. I've gotten a
replacement from Dave Bean, but it is actually plastic with a chromed
finish. However, when I look at my Mick Miller catalog, it's noted as
being a plastic chrome piece as well. Was the original bumper trim
strip a metal piece, or was it always a plastic piece?

By the way, I just had it painted red and white sprint colors (it was
all white before), and apparently started a firestorm of flaming e-
mails on this board a few months ago when I asked the board for
the "modern" paint colors for Cirrus White and Carnival Red. Well my
paint shop now tells me that Dupont now has the original Lotus color
formulas here in the US that they can duplicate in modern paint. Man
is that Carnival Red ever RED!!! His shop is on a row of other paint
and body shops, and when they see the Lotus out front, painters are
walking over from the other shops to ask just where does that wild red
come from!

Even original, it was plastic - much like the bright filler strip in the
windscreen gasket..

Gary,
It's great that Dupont has finally come around on the issue of vintage Lotus
paint numbers. - On behalf of the group I'd like to ask that you post
the dupont numbers you used to the group site, as this will save a lot of
people time and effort. It will also keep me personally from starting an
identical "firestorm" when I need to buy Carnival Red for my car! ; )
Thanks,
-E

Hi,

Is "Carnival Red" lotus paint number L06? I am planning to get my car
painted in the next few weeks.

Is it available in the UK?

L05, see http://www.mikecauser.com/lotus/parts/paint_codes.html

You could try a Lotus dealer for part number A036B6319V, or Du Pont etc
agents can mix it for you.
