Subject: wiper position

I have ask this question before, and got no answer ,which is very unusal for
this group,so here we go again .
How can I change the park position of the wipers ,at present they park on
the near side and the MOT tester was not happy that all of the drivers side
was not swept ?

There are two separate issues here.
The park position is controlled by a series of spring contacts running on a
disc which stops the wiper motor in the correct position. Maybe you have an
export motor which would park on the right hand side of the vehicle. My
wiper motor has the following identification on it. A small circle which
looks like the Mercedes hood ornament followed by 75660A. underneath a
another number which is 54071569B. The cover plate also has an arrow showing
the park direction.
The second problem of not wiping the drivers side fully is controlled by the
initial geometry of the wiper system. With any car the wiper arm pivot
points determine this condition. Modern cars are designed to sweep a larger
area of the drivers side than the passenger side. This requires a different
location for the wiper arm pivots for right hand & left hand drive vehicles.
In the days when the Elan was designed I don't recall that there were any
requirement to have a minimum area of the glass wiped. Hence the cheap
solution was to use the same wiper system for both rt.hand & lt hand drive
