How are the windshields (windscreens) secured on the early +2's?
I have the rubber channel and the filler or locking trim.

Where is the "split" or seam in the rubber located? Top or bottom of
windshield? Is it covered with an additional trim piece?
Is the rubber channel and locking piece mitered at the bottom corners or is
it one piece?
Has anyone replaced their glass and rubber?

Could someone provide me with pictures?

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,
I have a later +2, but the technique for replacement is probably similar
to the rear screen which I have just replaced.
My one comment being that the proper tool for fitting the infil strip is
well worth it (you can get them from Frost restoration).
Tried doing it with various homemade implements then bought the tool and
the whole trim took <15 mins!
(I have no financial connections, blah.. blah..)

I have a 67 elan +2 and the screen rubber appears to be in one piece.....although Ive never taken it out myself there is no visible joint in rubber section however this is not the case with the infill 'chrome' stip......the joint had a filler piece over it which unfortunately after/during having the car resprayed dissappeared.......on both the front and rear screen......if anyone has a source for these tiny bits I'b be interested in them
cheers

It is, as I said before, one piece, don't think it matters if you split it at top or bottom, but split at the bottom it won't drip on your head. Seal the seam with a bit of black sikaflex urethane. Therewas never any trim other than the filler strip

Advise you bring it to a glass guy.

I broke mine the first time.

I've asked all the usual UK suppliers about this 1" long finisher piece which fits between the ends of the chrome strip...these were originally on the car prior to respray and are now not and have become unobtanium according to these guys....can you let me know where you get yours from please
cheers

I have the joint at the top on mine,if you cut it a little large the compression will hold it together and as for the finisher for the chrome strip(at the bottom) just snip a little piece of stainless and bend it to shape
John
P.S.
Don't try to fit it without the tool unless you like blisters.....
