Ok all ..what is the gold for the bumpers?



Any body have a match..or close.?

I got a tin from Lotus in the early seventies. I've just dug it out of the
garage. The paint is from Sherwood Parsons, Essex, UK. The references on the
tin are:

Ford B4
Amber Gold Metallic
1152-68

Not sure why folk can't just answer your question without the
lectures?

Anyway as Carl says Ford Amber Gold sounds correct. Unfortunately
Sherwood Parsons are long gone. If you can find a paint supplier who
can be bothered to look properly you should be able to get a mixing
formula. It was a popular Ford Cortina colour in the UK. The PPG code
is 23264 (I think) and someone ought to be able to cross reference it
for you.

The other easy alternative would be to take a sample in to the paint
supplier and get a close match mixed You will be amazed how many
manufacturers colours are very close. Also, most paint suppliers have
a spectrum system ie lots of colours in many shades from light to
dark.

Yes.I feel the same way.If I wanted to be lectured.I would go to
college.wait..been there and done that .and I did not like it then either.



I guess I will have to take the decals to the paint shop and see what they
can do..

I wasnt having a go at tony just the fact that we had yet again the same
question for the umpteenth time.......I was unaware of the difficulty of
matching old paint to new paint in the US......hey I got my car resprayed last
year... I walked in with the lotus and PPG code and he didnt even ask me for the
PPG just the lotus code.....done!!! no messing no further questions
asked....great job in carnival red........L05...that was all I needed......it would
appear that you dont have any help over in the states.....therefore I will ask
my shop, as I will be passing on Thursday, if he has the current/similar paint
code to the original Lotus colours and let you know the results
hope this will help.........I do like helping rather that being a
nag.......please accept my appolgies if I got carried away.....I was unaware of your
situation on your side of the pond

It is unlikely that the colors/tints etc carry over. Lots of work this sideof the pond reducing VOC's and toxics, and that affects colors, everythinghas to be reformulated. They doubtless do not bother doing so on unused colors. Good body guys will tell you that black aint black no more red [especially] aint red

Tony, you might try a Glasso shop, being european they might have differentlistings.

This number might work for you. IIRC, most Ditzler codes are 5 digits indicating the color with a prefix indicating the paint system, ie: acrylic enamal Delstar, or the various urethane systems.
