Having a bad day today, sorry again for the last posting, now down to business

Went across to Donnington yesterday and today, both times running a little hot,so,into the shed and out come two thermostats(both 74) but one has a dingly-dangly bit of a plastic ball in a hole, can anyone tell me what it's for and which would be best

Thanks

John

John

The hole is to insure that there is always a little flow through the T-stat
so that it is not in a dead pocket and if there is any trapped air it will
escape and hence not delay the opening of the T-stat. The dingly-dangly
plastic ball (sometimes a twist of brass) is to keep the hole clean. For
racing I would pull the guts out of the T-stat but leave the flat plate as a
restrictor for a little back pressure, then again Donnington in the winter
you might want a real T-stat. Do you have a heater? Turn on the heat for a
little more cooling! A good radiator is the only real answer to
overheating; this board has lots of possibles posted.
