Elan +2 Tandem Brake Cylinder

Can ayone help me... my federal +2S is in need of a new or
reconditioned Tandem Brake Cylinder. I see Paul Matty has one but for
?157 it is crazy expensive.

Does anyone know if there is a part from some other car that will work
for this? I find it hard to believe that this would have been a Lotus
engineered part and not some stock part from another car--possibly
Ford derived?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Gidday David,
Re your tandem master cylinder. I would be very surprised if your M/C is not salvageable.
The bore of the cylinder can be bored over size and a stainless steel sleeve fitted by any competent brake shop. From there it is a matter of new cups and seals. Lotus usually fitted Girling M/C's, if not available locally then contact Girling in the UK.
157 Pounds is piracey. !!
See ya, Les
