Update on the Lotus Rendezvous at the Glen, July,2005

Tony,

Just curious why you are doing this event in June w/ the HSR event rather than in Sept with SVRA. I can't imagine there will be a strong turnout of on-track Lotus w/ HSR and it is also not on the MR schedule this year either,so there will be few if any formula cars.

Update on the Lotus Rendezvous at the Glen:



Driving Schools on the famous Watkins Glen track around the days of the
Lotus Rendezvous at the Glen.



We (the LOONYs, Lotus Owners of New York), have been told by the BMW club of
Delaware and the Professional Drivers Association that they are having the
following driving events at the Glen track either side of the July 15th
weekend.

If interested you can register and pay to attend the BMW event on
Thursday/Friday, July 14th and 15th, or the PDA event, Monday/Tuesday, July
17th and 18th. These events are totally separate from the Lotus Rendezvous
and the LOONYs are in no way sponsoring, or connected with either the BMW
club or the PDA. Any Lotus owners that attend either of these two events at
Watkins Glen International do so at their own risk and expense.



To register for the BMW event, details are below:



You will have to join the BMW club, as part of the fee.

We were told that they have restrictions on open cars and tinted windows, so
check out the website for any restrictions and rules.

I really don't understand..we are not doing it on either of those dates or
with those groups. Our event is being held on July 15, and 16th.



The reasons for this is this is hotel availability, and we also think to
have the event on a weekend where there is racing does not give the
attendees enough time to do both Lotus things and the race things. The Glen
that week is hosting the Finger Lakes wine festival.



There is also the weather.early Sept weather at the Glen (all of you old F1
guys know this) is very unpredictable. July is pretty safe in Upstate NY.
