Where did you order your shocks from?

I'm am trying to make a decision on which shocks to order, but I have
noticed that the prices seemed to have gone up lately. I am looking
for the Spax or AVO shocks with adjustable dampening and height. I
was expecting them to cost around $500 per set of 4 shocks plus
shipping, but I have been getting quotes between $800 and $900.

I am in the US, so I know that the cost of shipping and the exchange
rate are causing them to be more expensive, but I am hoping that I
can find a better price.

Where did any of you buy your shocks, and about how much were they?

Thanks,
Nick

I recently got both front and rear damper sets for my Plus 2 from Dave Bean. The Spax for the front were USD $262. The AVO for the rear were $390 (USD). Both are adjustable. Somebody quoted 150 pounds for the rear AVO shocks. After currency conversion that is about the same price as Dave Bean.

If you can find them cheaper, let us know. They do seem very expensive and it would be nice to pass on the details of a cheaper source to other people in the future, if one exists.

I called Dave Bean's shop the other day. They are phasing out the Spax
shocks and switching to AVO. In fact, they don't have any Spax shocks left
for the Elan. The AVO front shocks with both adjustable dampening and
adjustable spring plate are $185 each and the adjustable AVO rear shocks are
$195 each. With shipping they come to $790 a set. That seems to be one of
the better deals in the US.

I called Paul Matty's shop on Friday and they are considerably cheaper, but
the shipping from the UK was ?90, so the total ended up being around $727,
but my fear was that if something wasn't right that it would cost me $180 to
ship them back.

I have started contacting other British car shops in the UK to see if they
have better shipping rates to the US. I will let you know what I find.
