Motor = 260lbs including accessories, generator, carbs, fuel pump, etc.

Gearbox including bell housing is approx 60-65 lbs

Driveshaft = not sure.

If you are trying to lose weight, I recall one or two of the usual vendors sell various bits in light alloy, such as the bell housing, tailshaft housing, diff housing, and there is an aluminum engine block available as well. All will lighten your elan as well as your wallet....

Happy Holidays to all

The Elan is so light to start with it seems silly to worry about the
weight of the mechanical bits. Just a thought, but unless you weigh
in the area of 150 pounds yourself, you can lighten the car more by
taking going on a diet!. I'm in this category myself.

There were 200 pound people in my bicycle club who used to spend large
amounts of money to lighten their bikes by a few ounces - but never
did anything about themselves.
