ignorant question, but what is this event?

A friend sent me the link below. There are a number of us here in the US
who are wondering what the event is called and if anyone could point a link
to course rules and maps.

Its an Autotest. You have a course to negotate in a given time and
musnt hit any of the obsticles. Dont you have such events in US?

I just looked up the name on the sign on the side of the track.

There could be some place that has Autotests, but the link and question has
been subject to a fair amount of discussion on decent sized blogs and no
one had seen or heard of anything like it.
