Steamy windows....

..... can anyone offer an opinion on why my rev counter steams up slightly when I'm driving? None of the other instruments are affected and it's a dhc driven with the roof off, so there is loads of air movement. I thought that there might be some involvement by the heater hoses (new) but when I removed the radio and stuck my hand in I can't detect any damp or leaks and if this were the case I would expect the fuel gauge (at least) to be affected as well.
The weather has been in the range of about 6-12 degrees and it's been quite damp outside but not raining, for a change.
