Possible trip to San Diego Next year

PostPost by: tdafforn » Tue Nov 30, 2004 8:14 pm

Hi All,
I have just found out that I may be in San Diego for a week or so next year on buisness..
Just wondered whether anyone on the list hails from this part of the US and whether they had any suggestions of Automobile related things to do?
Cheers

Hi Tim,

I'm in the SD area (Del Mar) and would be happy to provide advice.
We have a local auto museum in Balboa Park
(http://www.sdautomuseum.org/) a bit small but an interesting
collection and nice special exhibits, and we have great back roads
for driving/cycling. Let me know when you're planning to come, and
I'll be glad to look around.

Jim

I'm not from San Diego, but I've visited my in-laws there. As
someone else said, the Balboa Park car museum is interesting. Next
door to it is an aviation museum.

While you're in the area, take go over to LaJolla and drop by
Symbolic Motors. They're a Lotus dealer and they also sell lots of
interesting race cars (currently they have a couple of early MGs, a
Lotus 81 (F1), a Shelby CanAm car, and a lot of other cars (check
their inventory)). They are usually quite happy to let you look at
the cars.

Speaking of San Diego, does anyone know if the Torrey Pines Concours
still exists?

Not for the last few years .... I heard that the golfers didn't like all the
tire marks on the grass.
