I would like to replace the original and battered plate on my 1969
Elan +2.
My original has the unit number and other information hand written
with an electric engraver. Was this standard practice?

My '70 model is stamped.
Scott

My 1970 +2 does not have a ID plate so I have brought a new one but have not
yet engraved it.

If you have a digital camera, would it be asking to much to snap a picture
of your old one so I can engrave mine in a similar style.

Thanks in advance.

David

Just do it in an attempt to repeat the hand writing of your grandparents
as if you were about 5 years old.....I'm sure that the 'calligraphy' of
the mechanics was never practised as they do look
very....erm.......erm.....just very!!!!......like a 5 year old trying to
copy grandmas best joined up writing....honest......
Cheers

Mine looks very much as thought the guy who did it held the engraver
with at best his left hand, and at worst in his mouth!

But, by 1970, it may be a stamped plate, not hand engraved.
