National Resoration Show NEC (short review FYI)

Hi Guys,
Was off work friday looking after my 1yo (nasty case of the squits)...
Good side though was that I had to find something to amuse him (and me),
and realised that the National Restoration Show was on at the NEC (5
miles from home).
So off we went, got to the gate only to find it was 20 quid to get in!!!!
I reluctantly paid up as the little one was creating, and spent a great
2 hours wondering arround the biggest show I have ever been to...
I would not have said it was worth the cash (although I am tight as
a...), but it was entertaining.
Highlight was a 50th aniversary celebration of Lotus in one hall with a
number of old F1 cars including at 49 and 33 (two of my favourates)
Only one lotus stand (the drivers club), and they didn't seem too
interested in chating to me (although it may have been the look of the
little one with biscuit around his chops)..
There was a "drive your dream car" stall, where you could pay for a trip
'round the car park in one of a number of cars. Had my eye on the GT40
(another favourate), but 40 quid for 5 mins is a bit steep..
Otherwise Loads of stalls, one guy selling Lotus stuff (mainly for 7s
but did have an F3 twink),
Loads of American Iron (not my cup of tea)
and picked up some V. nice stainless steel braded fuel hoses to replace
the solid plastic ones on the car at the mo...

Overall review...
V. expensive. Good if you want to look at loads of shiney cars. Bad if
you want to know ANYTHING about car restoration (is in the name, but
there was very little practical stuff going on)

Cheers
Tim

He was fine in himself, it was just that the Nursery don't let them
attend if they have anthing wrong down there!

Hello Tim, you picked the Classic Car Show to visit, I don't find
the new annual monster show as good as the smaller shows that were
held twice a year. The one you want is this coming Sunday at
Stoneleigh, The National Restoration Show & Grand British
Autojumble. ?7.50 entry and no rip off car parking charge.

Hi Ken,
I normally go to the one at Stoneleigh (in fact I go to quite a few
shows there as it is only 4 miles from home), but we're away, so I
thought I'd try this one..
On another note, Don't go to the Ford day at stoneleigh, quite the worst
show I have EVER been to, 6 quid, and only 2 autojumblers, and not one
lotus cortina..
another good show at Stoneleigh that I have been to (including the Lotus
show of course) is the Triumph show, good place to get front uprights,
calipers, steering columns etc..
Cheers

You should also go to the Classic Motorsport show in the new year. Can't
remember the dates at the moment (Feb I think) but it is advertised in
all the usual classic car mags. It was a great show this year and
promises to be even better next year.
