Pointless Poll?

There was a group poll September 2003 entitled "Are you still using
points in your distributor?"

The result was 55% yes and 44% No.

So, as I'm thinking about a pointless system...
Those of you that no longer rely on points, what systems are you using
and - perhaps most importantly, would you recommend your setup?

PS. Can anyone set this poll going?

I recommend Luminition. Simple and proven.

Hi Paul

I fitted a Piranha contactless system (optical type) back in 1977 as the
distributor is so difficult to service. The Piranha is still working
OK. Maintenance consists of a very occasional drip of oil applied to
the advance/retard.

Using the lumenition magnetic system. Very neat as it all goes inside
the dizzy. I would use a sports coil with a "pointless" system and open
up the plug gap a bit.

I have a Pertonix Ignitor and it works great.

I liked it better than the luminition because it fits entirely inside the
distributor and it uses hall effect so there is no possibility of a photo
interrupter wheel crashing against the detector like some people had happen.

I got the ignitor for something under $70us from a place online that was
cheaper than anybody else. The link for it is:
