Last race in my Elan

PostPost by: batfish » Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:25 pm

Don't usually put links in of my racing as don't claim to be a race driver but as it was my last race with the car now for sale will put these in for your amusement. Hoped to have a good blast on the Silverstone GP track but the weather was not too good.

Qualifying was like on a lake and the race although sunny felt like driving on an ice rink.

Nothing special, just all new wiper parts when I put the car together.

Andy,

Thanks for you your video. Great stuff.

You were struggling to find grip even on drying parts of the track during the race - were you having trouble getting some heat into the tyres? I use(d) Advans when I was still racing in HRS, I recall they weren't great when the track was soaking, but acceptable on a damp track.

Thanks for sharing your races Andy,
Not everyone can tell "I raced my Elan..."
Personally, I would have liked but could never face the costs.
You enjoyed that enough to be at the next race, that was the essential thing.
Have a good sale.
Christian.

Thanks all for the kind replies.
Dunlop M historic tyres are not the best in the wet, they move about even in dry conditions,

Nice first lap.
I never regret the heated screen, screen blower and intermittent wipe!
