Hopefully we will see the first Shapecraft out racing again soon. Does any one know how much it sold for?

looks like the one Tony Thompson purchased in the early eighties...

"Historic Cars Meudon" do not list prices usually... used car dealers, really (even if race cars), I would trust them just like their description "one of the only 3 ever built" , I suppose they don't even know the difference between a mk1 and a mk2 Shapecraft.

TT's former car has been racing around here quite often since he sold it actually (a number of Peter Auto events for instance).

It is Tony’s old car and is one of two Shapecraft cars with roof vent and side windows the other had “standard” roof sans vents and side windows.

When TTR bought it, it had a std roof. He copied the roof from 26-R-4,which was the other car with vent and side windows.

Hi Dave, hope you are OK.

When you say the TT car had a "standard" roof, do you mean an ordinary Elan S1/2 stick-on hard top or a Shapecraft without side windows top?

Cheers Dave- I'm sure that I photographed it racing with an ordinary hard top on... but these days ye olde memory is not what it was! :D

I wonder what sort of motor-boat he got the side windows from?

So, if the TT car didn't have a Shapecraft roof but a standard factory detachable hard top, it is then fitted with a Shapeccraft pattern roof at what point does it actually become a Shapecraft?

Unless, of course, it originally had a Shapecraft roof which was removed to fit the standard top and then had a Shapecraft roof reinstated I'm not really sure what is going on here! :D

Can someone explain it to me please, in words of one syllable, or less?

One may also conjecture that all Shapecraft cars left the Lotus factory as standard elans to be subsequently fitted with the aforementioned distinctive bodywork part...

Quite correct- the question is who put the Shapecraft top on and when! Was it at the Shapecraft premises by the company of that name in the 1960s, or many years later by someone else. The issue now is that some of the latter are apparently being sold as the former.
