Had lots of trouble last year with the engine losing water during races, eventually decided the only way forward was a new cylinder head casting . LH Owen at Telford rebuilt the engine with new SAS head. 1st time I have used him and well pleased with the result.

Andy

nice ! Please follow up with the outcome after a couple races...

I'm pretty sold to the same route, esp. considering my old beat up head (...) - though still at the budgeting phase.

If I may, what size porting and valves did you opt for ?

Hi
The engine is as per fia appendix I regs so the valves are as the homologation amendment with inlet at 1.562inch. I assume the outlet is standard as it's not amended in the papers. Could not tell you about the porting other than the engine builder told me he does tweak the SAS head porting

Hi Andy

The SAS heads have a good reputation.

I would be curious to know the size of the exhaust port size.

FIA papers suggest that this is (homologated at) 34mm. I think standard is closer to 31 mm (?) and TTR have 36mm manifold / headers...

Good luck with the rebuild.

Andrew

Hi Andrew,
My SAS head which was supplied and modified by Tony Ingram has exhaust ports of 33 mm at the gasket face and 31mm approximately 15mm from the flange face into the port.
I'm very happy with it and have just given it a refresh for next years race series.
