I run 8 thou on inlets and 10 thou on exhausts.

I have not used the cam combination you are using so I would go by Johns recommendations.

Yes he typically quotes a maximum power setting and maximum torque setting so you need to accommodate that sort of range if your going to experiment with timing

According to Clive, Johns cams have take up ramps to suit a nominal 10 thou clearance. You can use less clearance if you want. The exhaust clearances close up a few thou when hot and the inlets stay the same or maybe increase a little. Johns recommendations are safe, mine are just a little more conservative
