Saying Hello

Hi

I've been lurking on this forum and thought I'd better say hello seeing as I'm embarking on an Elan race car project!

I've competed in loads of different cars in sprints and hillclimbs in the UK including recently in my bike engined single seater here. I felt it was time to go for something a bit more classy and classic, hence the Elan! I'm planning on circuit racing at some point in the future (I have a race licence).

I've just bought a 26R chassis with some rolling gear and I'm chasing the 'shell'. I'm still short of a massive list of parts!

I've started a blog here but I think it'll be slw progress!

And I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions too.

Wyn

Looks like a good starting point, good luck with the project. Plenty of advice and spares to be found here on the site. :D

Thanks Mike

I seem to spend ages staring at my small pile of bits, perhaps hoping it'll get bigger!

So is that a genuine 26R :?:

Another 26R owner & regular poster 'twincamman' will tell you all you need to know about them...

Just seen the photos - looks like the ultimate lightweight Elan: no body or mechanicals...

Best of luck with it! :D

Hi Guys

I guess there's probably some kind of mathematical representation of the size of the parts pile but I'm not going to try and work it out!

It's not a genuine, original 26R but I am hoping to build / rebuild it to 26R specification. I don't want to get into any debates over this either :-)

Hi Dave

I'm near Llanelli - thanks for the offer of assistance! I've not started thinking about the build yet but I'll need a lot of help when I get around to it!

Regards

Wyn
