Hi,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a detailed explanation of recommended chassis modifications for the replacement Lotus galvanised chassis for the +2 ?

ie, the upgrades for racing, 'a la' 26R.

Thanks,
Stuart.

Stuart,

I saved this file some time ago for future reference just in case I forgot it is on the home page of lotuselan.net:

If you have a Galvanized chassis you may want to look for a standard unit without. Not many people will want to weld on the gavi chassis as the gasses given off are poisonous. Maybe you ought to put an order into Spyder while they are still around :( .

At the very least you will have to grind the zinc away to prevent the welds from being contaminated. I am building up a new galvanized chassis for my +2 now. My compressor and die grinders are getting quite a workout as I remove emough of the coating to get important parts such as wishbones to go on. I should have listened more carefully when Gary said Beauregard would never work on a galvanized chassis again.

Many thanks for the replies.

I knew the galvanising issue, but got the new chassis at too good a price to miss !

Anyone know how close those Avo mods are to the 26R chassis ?

Any further info much appreciated.

Regards,
Stuart.

The 26R mods would be a subset of the AVO mods.
