I presume the headlights let into the bumper area was an IWR rally mod as well then

Probably! The car was like that while Ian and David had the car. Not sure it was a rally mod per se. There were/are a number of cars treated this way.

I guess Malcolm rebodied it but I am not sure when he bought the car. '80 or '81 at a guess. Our repairs weren't exactly to Miles Wilkins spec!

Here it is in '87, still with Malcolm, pictured in an article in the now defunct Sports Car Monthly.

I saved my car from being parted and or destroyed at the wreckers and thats all I really care about ., but all the attacks on the history of the car really are just to protect some of the 'Business interests' of other persons involved --and thats all I need here -ed --------btw it should show as------ 26/ 33 Cambridge Motors Montreal ----or the list is not reliable

Richard
7599VC was Paul Howcroft's old car, not a 26r I think.
He started a clothing company, but was killed in a motorcycle accident in the Lake District

Oh dear, maybe I should have said "quoted as being a 26R"

I have a full article on 7599VC and will scan and post it when I return to the UK

The car was not a 26R but highly modified specifically for rallying.

Howcroft started the Rohan clothing company, specialising in the then new lightweight technical fabrics. As an early mail order customer in the 1980s I recall his brochures sometimes featuring him in his ?lan.

Hi there,
Should I say that I am quite disappointed ...
No comments after my last message on that topic...
I proposed you some real period colored stuffs , without any other goal, but...
You 're keeping making the buzz around a sole chassis number.
F...k the #26-R-33 and every of its replicas, lookalikes, from its chassis tag to every single bit !
Sorry, but I had to say it.
Christian.

You mentioned lightweight, Tim. It just reminded me that in the '70s we referred to the cars more often as lightweights, not 26Rs.

Just an aside........ :)

Wow! Great video. Chic, chic, chic, chicane! 8)

Cheers - Richard

(Was interested to see Henri Pescarolo. We were at Le Mans in 1980 when Jean Rondeau won and Henri was in a sister car. Also...Jacky Ickx drove over the end of my toes in a Ferrari 400 :) but that may have been '82 )
