What a shame.

+1.
Looking at the pictures on the previous page, and if the label is correct, what kind of gear box is used !?!

Details of the 1965 ARRC when Elans finished first, second and third in the C-Production race.

Here's the story from Sports Car Graphic Magazine.

Not a 26R, but a real Shapecraft! The photograph from Ferret Fotographics is one of few I have seen which show the front as originally built, similar to the SMART Elan, but I prefer the almost standard shape of the Ian Walker 26Rs.

By the by, this model is similar, based on Barry(?) Hands 'Lightwork' cars (many hands make ....!), though the nose treatment is more 26R.

Need more, this thread ain't dead!

I was looking for a picture that I have of 26/4020 chassis with the body first taken off. I didn't find it but a couple of others that were interesting. This photo is taken at "I think" Lime Rock in September 1995, well it was in that box anyway. It could have been Monterey of the same year but I am betting that it's from the East coast.

I don't know if its a 26r or a period clone, maybe Mike or someone else recognizes the Elan from the engine bay photo.

Hi
Looks like replica/clone as it has full chassis plate, and is running a dry sump motor which although fitted to some cars, Vaughan's for example, is not allowed for FIA events.,

Hi Dave

I saw the full tag and figured clone but I didn't know so I asked. I don't remember taking the photo or the Elan itself. I got a couple pictures from my friends wife, it may be one of them and it may older, the last time she was at Limerock was in 1992. I hope someone will see it and know the Elan and ID it.

You are not an engineer in the UK then?
Other terms regarding fit: "gnat's" (as in gnat's whisker); "like a turd in a piss pot" (as in "I say, old chap, that's rather loose").

This is the Surbiton Motors car . A genuine 26R Shapecraft race car from day one.

Now with its original style bumper (fender) on the front.

Soon to be repainted

What is in the background? A Trident?

Maybe it is the new glasses but is there only one bonnet scoop on that car - if so most odd
