May be when you rebuilt it, you make it right hand drive. Keep you further away from the accident :P

Seriously, the import part is that you walked away. The car is easy to fix, human bodies take a lot more work.

Dag,

Good to see that you were able to walk away from the incident -

The car is pretty surdy so i hope you don't have too much work ahead of you.

If it would help I have a orphaned adjustable left rear A-arm , if you need ( is it allowed ? ). I would be happy to donate it to the rebuild at no cost to you beyond shipping ... Let me know

George

Hello all,

I have been speaking to Sebring, who visited me on Saturday morning regarding getting a seat which would be FIA Homologated, HANS compatible, comfortable, safe and fit in the "baby Elan".

I believe we have now got a very good option of seat available, we have an FIA Homologated seat which with a little tweaking to the shell at our end will suit all your needs, it not only fits but we offer a full fitting service to make sure it fits YOU... (Either by you visiting us at our premises or buy measurement charts)

I don't want to break any Forum rules etc. but if this would be of interest to a number of Forum users, I would be quite happy to set up a group buy on the seats for forum users and would make a donation to the site if successful.

The Seats are our own make "motordrive" and we have been designing and manufacturing race and rally seats for over 25 years, and rather than the ?1600 I saw banded around beforehand for a seat. Our fitted seats have 4 options of material starting at ?275+VAT and going up to ?650+VAT for the full carbon and if we did look at a group buy of say 8 to start with that could be reduced depending on what materials we look at, and with us making the product here in the UK we can put your own embroidery designs onto the seat etc..

Anyway have a think and if any of the above is of interest please let me know..

Paul

(Does anybody know who the chief Admin is so I can discuss this with Him/Her to make sure that they are happy with my suggestions, Thanks)

Paul

There is a separate Business Listing part of this forum that allows company's with an interest in Elans to post and discuss their goods. I would suggest that you use that freely.

If you do still wish to speak with the site boss, mail Jeff Cocking at [email protected] but he is a busy fellow and runs this site in his own time.

Thanks Tim,

I will do just thought it might be of interest to people on this link as it is not a general seat that we usually make and I know of the difficultly people are having obtaining FIA seats that fit.

I'll email Jeff too...

Thanks

well after a long search i have a new seat - still to fix in the car, but for those who have been watching this space with interest, i attach some photos incl. positioned in the car on mountings to illustrate the headroom (2") and side clearances. (Sorry for the quality of some - i still prefer my 35mm SLR)
Motordrive (see adverts section) have really done an excellent job and i cannot praise them highly enough. They have taken a lot of time to get this right for me, so i hope that other racers out there can benefit from this.
i will be happy to discuss this with anyone who wishes to do so
regards

I need a seat for my S1 Elan - what material option did you pick? did you get it built to order etc. Who did you deal with in Motordrive?

in repy to queries:
1. material option: kevlar carbon mix;
2. built to order - yes; but it is a current production model; please note they do a 'fitting' service in that the foam padding can be tailored to suit individual people;
3. person to contact at Motordrive: Paul on 0161 724 5176; tell him its for an Elan and that you have seen my seat;

Just a quick one to say I have got my "Motordrive seat" , and it actually fits !! I may need to remove the cushion in order to get low enough, - or lower the floor of the car, which is probably not "FIA-correct"........Anyway, the seat is quite nice, and I am looking forward to see my laptimes move down now........! :lol:
