Just to say that the Classic Sports Car club are running a 'Lotus' class this year... aprox ? 250 for a 30min practice and 40min race. Fantastic value for your ?. Only rules ... original type of engine, original style body - no massive arches, air dams etc ( 26r OK ) and must run Yoko tyres .. rest free !

So all those people with a track day or hillclimb Elan that wants to have a race ... come on down ! Great fun and a vast range of performance so you will find some one to race with ... several Elans already racing

Hi David.
I am going to be racing in the CSCC club races this year. I am going to be in the Tin Tops. A friend, Jon Morton has got a Peugeot 205 and has asked me to double drive in some of the races. Another friend is doing some too. I will have to find you and say hello. Your car is very distinctive (I saw the other thread with the picture) so wont be able to miss it. I should be out at the Anglesey meet. Will you be there?
Cheers.
Keith.

Hello David
As you will realise I have not been out in my Elan this year at CSCC races - I have been pretty ill and 40 minute races, no way! As to getting in and out of the car at the mandatory pit stop, thinking about it makes my eyes water!!
I am doing some Thoroughbred races as they are cheap to enter, welcome the Elan, and have shorter race which suits me at the moment. Also they allow any 1b tyres and have better and tighter rules, eg homologated weights, no mods to bodywork from the original, 5.5 wheel width etc. And again a very friendly relaxed bunch of people.

One daft Elan problem at Oulton last year [ 1968 S4 ] with CSCC was the door locks self locking as a result of my going over kerbs. Thus I suggest to any one racing an Elan with original doors and locks, to wire lock the locks in the unlocked position. Being trapped in the car at the pit stop was not ideal!! However in the event of an accident it would be more than annoying of course.
See you at one of the CSCC races toward the end of the season I hope.
Richard

Hi David/Richard. I was out at Cadwell in the tintops. I had a look through the entries for you but you didn't appear to be there. Were you? The swinging 60's race was on Sunday where as ours was on Saturday so I probably wouldn't have seen you any way but I wondered if you were racing or not. Would have popped along to say hello.
Cheers.
Keith.
