Spa 6 Hour Race results 2019 - 4th / 7th / 10th overall

This year's race was started in light rain wet conditions at about 16h00 and followed the usual format of being 40% daylight, 20% dusk and 40% at night.
100 cars took the start and it was a very tough event as the track was smeared with a day"s oil, spilt fuel and grime - wet and then "gras, mouill?" (wet and greasy). Lap times to begin with were astonishingly slow.
The results can be found here ;http://roadbook.alkamelsystems.com/
I'm keeping my enthusiasm under control but it was the most fabulous upset of all time !
The light blue Elan of Hancock / Hancock / Twyman finished 4th, a marvellous achievement (car prep. Tom Ebbs). The white car of Gom?s / Claridge was 7th (robbed of 5th in the final minutes). Fenn / Barclya / Stirling finished 10th.
I'll post photos during the week.

Thanks,
Any report from classic racing events, especially the endurance stuff, are appreciated!
Many spectators? Obviously genuine historic racing cars are out of my budget but is there anyway to get more involved in events like this?
I wonder how many of the folk that run 26Rs at events like ths are also part of the forum?
I noticed quite a few motoring "celebs" or well known names were in elans this weekend.

I follow John Danby Racing on Instagram... they posted a video of a driver change on their Elan during the race: Link here https://www.instagram.com/p/B29xKe_liQn/?igshid=exhudrwuy8so

Yeh follow them, also Penson Motorsport https://www.instagram.com/pensonmotorsport/?hl=en
(Sir Chris Hoy was in with them)
I think Chris Harris of Beebs new Top Gear is normally at the Spa 6 hours in Ford Falcon but could this year due to a Clash with Blancpain GT series.
I think Mr Harris's fellow motoring journalists Andrew Frankel and Richard Meaden were ther with Mr Meaden in a 26r.

Hi folks, I will submit some photos later this week (I will have to retreat them to be uploadable).
Richard Meaden did participate in the Tromans' Elan (RaceWorks). Unfortunately they had a few gremlins.
The Penson car was absolutely immaculate, it was just a shame that the first pilote needs to learn that brakes are cheaper than gearboxes...he managed to wreck a brand new engine and gearbox in the first stint...
Rumour in the paddock is that the driver in question (not Mr Penson of Sir Chris Hoy) was hitting 10,000 rpm on downshifts...I have no idea if this is true but the video feed seems to confirm this...

This is the Gomes / Claridge car (7th overall, 2nd in class). Very high standard of preparation. This car ran as high as 5th but was overtaken by faster cars in the final minutes as the track dried out.
Lap time of 2:56.032 was the fastest lap by an Elan in the race.
