They got engaged working on the Europa together in the late '60's, and then married in early 1983, (a couple of months after Colin Chapman died.)
Lotus divorced Renault at a Formula 1 track in late 1986.
I, for one, am glad to see the Alliance (sic) return.

Which one, Team Lotus Renault, or Lotus Renault GP? For 15 years we had zero Lotus cars on the F1 grid, now we have four, pending the predictable legal battles.

The arguments raging about this on some internet boards are really something.

Team Lotus entered four F1 cars in a GP when I was a little younger. In those days there was only one manufacturer involved though.

Very true Pete, but at least it puts the LOTUS name back into the limelight of the broader public and I agree 4 LOTI to cheer in F1.
However I am not a big F1 fan these days. Like the thought of all the other Lotus idea's for sportscar racing though.

Lotus Racing have now completely rebranded themselves to "Team Lotus" complete with the Yellow/Green ACBC logo, see www.teamlotus.co.uk

I really can't see any good coming out of this fiasco, every time I read about F1 these days it reminds me why I lost all interest the day the Lotus cars stopped being black with gold lines.

On a completely different subject I really can't see the Proton car manufacturing factory in Norfolk riding out the current financial crisis now that they have abandoned what they do best, i.e. construct small, light, (almost) affordable sports cars and gone into bat against Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari, etc. making big heavy expensive GTs.
