Hello,
I've found another car that may fit the bill.
VIN 73020889 (seems a geniune sprint from this)
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2299/265 ... 4d.jpg?v=0
Its had 2 owners from new, last one since 1976. 30k miles, lots of history, mot's etc. Some tack mods which i'm after such as rollcage, adj susp, wheels, brakes etc
The only thing is it's obviously a 26R replica with the wide arches (good for larger tyres I suppose. I was wondering if this is a good or bad thing?
Its a 1973, so not roadtax exempt (is there any way round this as its only 2 months out)?
Any views would be welcome.
Thanks peeps
Andy.

A nice looking car with just what you want, by the looks of it. If it fits your budget it would seem to be a serious contender. At that mileage and with only two owners, I would say it is a good find.
That VIN is a genuine number for a G type domestic Sprint and is in fact just 10 off the final one produced.
I don't think that the PO was necessarily after a 26R look, it is just that the flares have had to be put in over the rear wheel arches to accommodate larger rubber and he chose rounded against squared off. As to how much wider you should/could take your tyres, there has been plenty of discussion on the forum about that over the years.
With regard to the 1973 car tax issue, see my posting here: http://www.lotuselan.net/forums/viewtop ... highlight=
