Tracking

Dear All

With all this talk of adjustable A frames,I thought I'd look into the tracking for the Plus2 and this is what I'm assuming.....

Front track 54"
Rear track 55"
Wheelbase 96"

From the manual, front toe-in 0 to 3/16" in total measured at the wheel rims....
From another manual, rears toe in 0 to 3/16" each side....

So if we go for middle ground and assume 1/16" toe-in on both front and rear wheels we end up with what appears to be a Trapezoid which I think looks quite stable?

And my old method of measuring/checking wheel alignment with a piece of string may not be all that far from accurate?

If anyone out there has their old Trig Tables I'm sure it could be worked out more accurately

John

Brian (friend)
Don't really have one....just thought some mathematician may come up with more accurate figures, some people may want to set up their tracking with a piece of string, others may chirp in with "what a load of nonsense"...others may come to the same conclusion??

Hi Guys

If the wheels where aligned to a straight edge on a car with 55" rear track and 54" front track and a 96" wheel base you would get a rear toe in of a tad (2.5 thou) over 1/32" measured from the wheel centre to wheel rim compared to the car centre line and a front toe in of approx 1/16" again a tad over (+ 5 thou), measured wheel to wheel.

(Thats how I spend a boring five minutes during lunch!)

All the best Andy

Andy

Isn't " 1/32" measured from the wheel centre to wheel rim".....the same as..." 1/16" measured wheel to wheel."...?

John

Yes :o

I should really learn to read the small print. The trouble is I can't open photo attachments so I make do with the small photo on the post.

Regards

John

For added accuracy, use a reel of teeth floss, not string! It does actually pull straighter and tighter too.
