Pedal return springs

Hi Greg
This pedal assembly is off of 26/4020 but should be the same except for the brake lamp switch that is a hydraulic on the 5 way T junction. One spring is missing off of the brake pedal but the clutch side mirrors it for the most part. Hope this helps.
I got my leg put on and went into the attic, there are two more pedal assemblies in there, one set had both springs in place so thats 4 assemblies, 2 LHD and 2 RHD with 3 springs total. I guess this taking photos shit is going to make the treasure hunt continue until I can find at least one more for the projects at hand. The problem is I don't know if there are any others as some stuff I have was received incomplete.
Thankd
Gary

Thanks Gary, that helps alot. Now, just need a shot of one with the brake light switch on the pedal assm. It gets in the way of the spring and I'm not sure how the spring goes around it. Thanks,

Hi Greg
I guess that is one of the reason I don't like the later assemblies and try to use the hydraulic pressure switch. I think that this was engineered for the Lotus pocket book and If I remember that space and time thing, that two objects can't occupying the same space comes to mind. If I remember I broke at least one switch when I owned 45/8221 and wasn't impressed with changing it. Anyway I can't find the broken switch thats around some place but this pedal assembly has the tab and maybe someone can give a better answer than I can, my S4 has been gone for 10 years now and I just find it difficult to remember detail stuff from that period. Maybe Brian's book covers it? I haven't got a clue so hopefully someone else has late Elan expertise, I sure don't.
Gary
p.s. looking for the switch I found 2 springs so life is good...

I had the hydraulic switch but changed it for a pedal switch after I dropped a very slippery oil filter and wiped out the hydraulic one!! It wasn't too difficult to install so I'm happy with the current setup on my S3.

I guess your trying to save a bit of weight by leaving off the spring?

Yes, Gary, it's a lot easier on tired ankles!!
I had taken the photo when I installed the switch but I guess it was before putting the spring back!

Interesting thread, now i could solve the spring problem...
But i am wondering if its normal that the pedal box could not be fully dismantled. The pedals are welded on both sides, the only way seems to be grinding of one weld to get the 3 pedals of from the maine tube.
