Just discovered my bonnet bolts were loose. Mindfull of this discussion I checked the bolts after I noticed a vibration from the bonnet - one bolt was flopping around almost disengaged from the body bobbin!
Would threadlock help?

Robbie,
the bonnet pivots on the threads so if you threadlock in the bonnet and the body bobbins, the bonnet won't open! up! If you tighten the bolt to the bonnet bobbin, it should be ok.

Oh right! I thought the bonnet just pivoted and the bolt stayed still. That's an even dafter idea than I thought
Thanks Mike, it's now tightened as much as I can up to the bonnet frame.
How about a star washer under the bolt head?

It wouldn't do any harm, actually you could use a drop of threadlock on the bonnet bobbin as long as you keep it off the other one.

Hi Everyone
The simplest solution to all this which I use is to drill out the threads in the bonnet and the use a bolt with a plain shank into the bodywork then put a lock nut on the end of the bolt from inside the wheelarch. It is necessary to put some spacers between the body and bonnet (I use some nylon washers) which is a bit fiddly but I find this solution works fine. This is how the front bonnet of the Europa is fitted and they don't have a problem comming loose (although I'll admit they do use 5/16 bolts rather than 1/4 for the Plus 2)
