Looking at the prices twinc's are making, or the cost of a full rebuild, my mind wandered a little erratically.

The big motor revs to around 5,500rpm, and would be an 'easy' couple to the existing clutch/gearbox. So you would still use 'throttle' and 'change gear', just with a different power delivery characteristic. No more head gasket or water pump worries.

Cost around 8-12k+ GBP by the factory. Just source an engine-less, rolling +2 and away you go.. Just not too far.

Well it's a nice thought that when petrol does run out at least the cars may keep on rolling!

Someone just has to develop the weber sound track to be played with the throttle movement.

Well actually ..... We should all know that the Tesla sportscar is very nearly an Elise [chassis built by Lotus I understand] and a specially modified electric Exige holds the UK speed record. I'm just waiting for the Lotus version of the hyper-performance hybrid....
